Oral argument on appeal can be outcome-determinative. Appellate judges use oral argument to zero in on the difficult issues a case presents. Effective oral advocacy in the face of those questions requires more than the ability to think quickly on one’s feet; exhaustive preparation is essential.
To that end, FMG holds a moot court before every appellate oral argument. The arguing attorney faces a panel of mock judges who study the case and challenge the attorney on the key issues. Experience has taught us that this process maximizes the value of oral argument as an advocacy tool.
