Kevin R. Stone is a Partner in Freeman Mathis & Gary’s Atlanta office and Vice-Chair of the firm's Lawyers Professional Liability national practice team. Mr. Stone has extensive experience effectively advocating for clients in state and federal trial courts (including jury and bench trials), state and federal appellate courts, the Georgia State-wide Business Court, and arbitration.
Mr. Stone practices in the firm’s Professional Liability and Government Law National Practice Sections. Mr. Stone’s practice includes defending professionals, including attorneys, real estate agents, and corporate officers. He also defends government entities and their employees on a variety of matters, including civil rights cases involving excessive force, false arrest, malicious prosecution, and high-speed pursuits. His practice also includes defense of claims involving intentional torts, defamation, nuisance, negligence, trespass, stormwater runoff, and premises liability.
He has also successfully represented both plaintiffs and defendants in fiduciary litigation and complex commercial litigation on a variety of matters, including high stakes contract disputes, shareholder/member disputes, business torts, and class actions.
Mr. Stone received a B.S. in Psychology at Belmont University where he ran varsity cross country and track and field (he was inducted into Belmont’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 2023). After earning a Master’s Degree in Psychology at the University of Florida, he earned a J.D. at the University of Florida Levin College of Law. While in law school, Mr. Stone served as an editor of the Florida Law Review and competed for the Florida Moot Court Team. Upon graduation, he was inducted into the Order of the Coif, representing a top 10% class rank.
