Christopher M. Lewis is an Associate at Freeman Mathis & Gary, LLP and is located in the Lexington office. He is a member of the Government Law, Labor & Employment Law and Tort & Catastrophic Loss national practice sections, and he actively participates in the Firm’s ADA Accessibility and Education interdisciplinary teams. Mr. Lewis focuses his practice on representing defendants and insurers in a variety of legal matters, including catastrophic torts, motor vehicle accidents, premises liability claims, products liability claims and equine law cases. He is a graduate of FMG’s Trial Academy and has been ranked in The National Black Lawyers, Top 40 Under 40.
Prior to joining FMG, Mr. Lewis served as a Staff Attorney in Warren Circuit Family Court under the Honorable Judge Catherine Rice Holderfield. Thereafter, Mr. Lewis worked at a local insurance defense firm where he consistently obtained favorable outcomes for his clients. Mr. Lewis also has experience working for the University of Kentucky’s Office of Institutional Equity and Equal Opportunity. In that role, Mr. Lewis was responsible for investigating complaints of discrimination, harassment and sexual misconduct asserted by members of the University of Kentucky community.
Mr. Lewis serves on the Advisory Council for Amplify Horse Racing, is on the Board of Directors for the Fayette County Bar Association and is a member of the Kentucky Defense Counsel. A graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Law, he earned the Lyman T. Johnson Torchbearer Award and the CALI Award in Torts. He received his undergraduate degree, cum laude, from Georgia Southern University. Mr. Lewis has authored articles and presented on employment law topics.
