Sara Sweeney is a Partner at Freeman Mathis & Gary, LLP and is located in the Boston and the Providence office. She is a member of the Labor and Employment Law practice section. Ms. Sweeney advises businesses on wage and hour compliance, workplace policies and employee relations, and defends employers against claims of discrimination and retaliation. She also conducts internal investigations involving harassment, discrimination and corporate mischarging.
Ms. Sweeney has extensive trial experience, having successfully represented clients in both bench and jury trials across a range of labor and employment matters. She is also skilled in alternative dispute resolution, handling arbitrations and mediations before administrative agencies and during litigation.
Before joining FMG, Ms. Sweeney served as in-house counsel for a global insurance company, where she oversaw litigation and collaborated with HR and business leaders to align legal strategies with business goals. She previously clerked for Rhode Island Supreme Court Justice Paul A. Suttell.
Ms. Sweeney is a past president of the Rhode Island Women’s Bar Association and a 2016 graduate of Leadership Rhode Island. She is admitted to practice in the state and federal courts of Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut, as well as the First Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court.
