In her Labor & Employment practice, Ms. Barringer represents businesses and local governments in all aspects of employment law and litigation, including discrimination, harassment, and retaliation claims under Title VII and other state and federal discrimination laws; wage and hour claims and collective actions under the Fair Labor Standards Act; Family and Medical Leave Act claims; and claims for breach of contract and violations of restrictive covenants like non-compete, non-solicitation, and confidentiality agreements. She also serves as outside counsel to business owners, human resources professionals, and in-house counsel on issues ranging from the preparation of personnel policies, employment contracts, and severance agreements, to advice and counseling on day-to-day personnel issues and best practices.
Ms. Barringer has defended an array of individuals, hi-tech start ups, manufacturers, restaurants and hospitality businesses, health care providers, hospitals and insurers. Her experience includes products liability defense and the defense of health care organizations. She has advised health system networks, pharmacy benefits managers, medical device manufacturers, clinical research organizations, hospitals, home health agencies, and hospice care providers. Ms. Barringer also has defended a variety of businesses in product defect, unfair competition, corporate governance, business-to-business transactional disputes, and other commercial litigation.
She also has extensive experience involving the defense of high exposure catastrophic loss cases and has repeatedly defended multi-million dollar claims and law suits involving personal injuries.
Her professional liability practice includes defense of attorneys, insurance agents, real estate agents, corporate officers, and other professionals. She also defends homeowners associations, non-profits, and community management associations.
Ms. Barringer defends her clients from the initial response to the complaint through trial. She protects her clients’ positions cost effectively through motion and discovery practice, and deposes the necessary parties, witnesses and experts. Her business and individual clients become enthusiastic fans of her trial skills, strategies and business insight and acumen.
Ms. Barringer graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Boston College, where she was a member of the Women’s Ice Hockey Team. She graduated from Suffolk University Law School, and served on its Moot Court Honor Board.
